Mock driving tests

A realistic practice run of the practical test with structured feedback.

A mock test is run by your instructor to test-standard conditions: an eyesight check, show-me tell-me questions, a normal driving route, manoeuvres and a period of independent driving, marked as an examiner would mark it. It is practice and feedback only. DriveBooked does not book, manage, cancel or search for DVSA practical tests, and a mock test has no bearing on your official test result.

Who it's for

  • Your practical test is coming up
  • You want an honest read on test readiness
  • You want to rehearse test-day nerves

What it covers

  • Eyesight check and show-me tell-me
  • Test-standard route driving
  • Manoeuvres under test conditions
  • Independent driving section
  • Marked feedback sheet and next steps

Who can take it

  • For learner drivers preparing for the DVSA practical car test.
  • You should already be driving to something close to test standard — a mock test measures readiness, it does not build it.
  • You do not need your official test booked to take a mock, though most people do have one.

What a session looks like

  • Roughly 40 minutes of driving, matching the length of the real thing.
  • An eyesight check and show-me tell-me questions at the start.
  • Normal road driving on a realistic route, one manoeuvre and about 20 minutes of independent driving.
  • Faults recorded as an examiner would record them, then a full debrief with what to work on.
  • The instructor talks as little as possible during the drive, which is the part most people find hardest.

How booking works

Tell us your area and what you want. DriveBooked looks for a verified, active instructor who covers that area and has confirmed they offer mock driving tests. Nothing is reserved when you enquire, and if nobody suitable covers your area we will say so rather than pass your details on.

Tuition is arranged with, and paid directly to, the independent instructor. DriveBooked charges no arrangement fee for this service at present.

Enquire about Mock driving tests

There is no DriveBooked fee for this enquiry. Tuition is agreed with, and paid directly to, your instructor.

Mock driving tests questions

Does a mock test count towards my real test?
No. A mock test is practice and feedback only. It has no bearing on your DVSA result and is not recorded anywhere official.
Can DriveBooked book or move my practical test?
No. DriveBooked does not book, manage, cancel or search for DVSA practical tests. You arrange your test directly with the DVSA.
How close to my test should I take a mock?
Usually one to two weeks before, which leaves time to work on whatever it exposes without the feedback going stale.
