How DriveBooked works in Bangor

DriveBooked is a booking agent. We match you with an independent instructor; the instructor delivers and is paid for the tuition.

Course options

  • 3-Day Intensive — 15 hours of tuition (£675 paid to your instructor)
  • 4-Day Intensive — 20 hours of tuition (£900 paid to your instructor)
  • 5-Day Intensive — 25 hours of tuition (£1,125 paid to your instructor)

A booked practical test is required for an intensive course. Requests with fewer than four days before the test cannot proceed to payment automatically — they are held for manual review first.

What you pay

£149 Course Management Fee paid to DriveBooked, and tuition at £45 per hour paid directly to your independent instructor. The two are never combined. A practical driving test is not included and is booked by you with the DVSA.

How the Bangor intensive-course search works

DriveBooked is a national booking agent. You pay for an instructor search, not for a named instructor: the search begins once your fee is paid, and no instructor is reserved, held or guaranteed at the moment you pay.

Once your fee is paid we search our verified instructor network for an instructor who covers Bangor and matches your transmission, availability and test requirements. We contact suitable instructors and driving schools, keep you updated at each stage, and tell you as soon as one accepts. Until an instructor accepts, nothing is reserved.

We do not claim to have an instructor attached to Bangor today. This page exists because we run a national search: you can book from any Great Britain postcode, and we will look for an instructor who covers Bangor once you do.

The 28-day search, and what you pay

We search for up to 28 days. If no suitable verified instructor has accepted and been introduced by the deadline, you choose: continue the search for another 28 days at no extra charge, or take a full refund of the DriveBooked fee. The search never extends automatically, and where your own test date makes 28 days impractical we show you the earlier deadline before you pay.

Two separate amounts. DriveBooked charges £49 to search for an instructor for hourly lessons, or £149 to search for and manage an intensive course. Tuition is £45 per hour, agreed with and paid directly to your independent instructor — it is never included in the amount DriveBooked charges. The DVSA test fee is separate again and is paid to the DVSA.

Is a course right for you

Planning an intensive course around a test near Bangor

An intensive course is a different product from weekly lessons, and it does not suit everyone.

Who an intensive course suits

  • You already hold a booked DVSA practical test — a course is built around it.
  • You can free up several consecutive days or a run of long sessions.
  • You have had some lessons already, or you learn quickly under pressure.
  • You need a licence by a fixed date, for work, study or a move.

It suits you less well if you can only drive once a week, if you find long sessions tiring, or if your test is so close that no instructor could realistically prepare you in time.

Learners booking from Bangor most often test at Bangor. Your course is planned around the centre shown on your own DVSA booking.

Choosing your course length

  • 3-Day Intensive — 15 hours of tuition, £675 paid to your instructor.
  • 4-Day Intensive — 20 hours of tuition, £900 paid to your instructor.
  • 5-Day Intensive — 25 hours of tuition, £1,125 paid to your instructor.

Beginners usually need the longer courses; drivers with previous lessons or overseas experience often need fewer hours. Your instructor assesses you at the first session and will say plainly if the hours you picked are not realistic. Nobody at DriveBooked promises a pass.

Realistic scheduling

Courses are planned backwards from your test date, with the last sessions as close to the test as possible and, where practical, on the roads around the centre you will use. Instructors need a few working days between accepting your booking and your test, and requests with fewer than four days to go are held for manual review before any payment is taken.

Long days are tiring. Two to four hours a day, with breaks, is common; six-hour days back to back rarely produce better driving.

Around Bangor the realistic options are Bangor. Travelling time to and from the centre comes out of your course hours, so a centre a few miles further away can cost you a chunk of driving over a week.

Instructors covering Bangor often also work in Rhyl, Pwllheli, Bala, so a session may start or finish outside the town if that fits the roads you need.

Manual or automatic, and acceptance

Intensive courses run in both transmissions. A manual pass covers manual and automatic cars; an automatic pass gives an automatic-only car licence, which is a DVSA rule rather than ours. Your booking is only ever offered to verified instructors whose recorded transmission matches your choice.

An instructor must accept your course before anything is confirmed. The £149 you pay DriveBooked buys the search and the management of the booking for up to 28 days — tuition at £45 per hour is agreed and paid separately with the instructor.

Bangor sits in North Wales, LL postcode area. We search instructors by test centre rather than by town boundary, so a course can still be arranged if the right instructor is based a few miles outside Bangor.

Planning a course from Bangor

  • Bangor is only about 0 miles from Bangor, so almost all of your course hours can be spent driving rather than travelling to the test area.
  • Bangor is the only car test centre we hold near Bangor, so the course route planning is straightforward — but test slots at a single centre can be scarce, so have your test booked before you pay.
  • Instructors who cover Bangor usually also work in Rhyl (27 mi), Pwllheli (27 mi), Bala (30 mi), so a session may pick you up or drop you off outside the town if that suits the roads you need.
  • Practical tests in Wales follow the same DVSA rules as England, and you can ask for your test to be conducted in Welsh. Confirm your date with the DVSA before a course is planned around it.
  • Bangor falls in the LL postcode area, which is what we match instructor coverage against alongside your chosen test centre.

FAQs

Bangor driving lesson questions

Answered from the data we actually hold for this area — coverage records, DVSA test-centre data and the published fee rules.

An intensive course in Bangor has two separate costs: a £149 Course Management Fee paid to DriveBooked, and tuition at £45 per hour paid directly to your independent instructor. A 15-hour course is £675 of tuition; a 25-hour course is £1,125. The DVSA test fee is not included.

Tell us what you need and pay the DriveBooked matching fee. We'll then search our verified instructor network for a suitable instructor for Bangor, based on your location, transmission, availability and test requirements. No instructor is reserved until one accepts your booking. We contact suitable verified instructors and driving schools in our network, keep you updated at every stage, and tell you as soon as an instructor accepts. If we cannot find a suitable instructor within the published search period, the cancellation and refund policy applies to your DriveBooked fee.

The DVSA practical car test centres we hold near Bangor are Bangor. You choose the centre you want your instructor to cover when you book. DriveBooked is not the DVSA and does not book your test for you.

Yes. An intensive course is scheduled around a booked DVSA practical test, so we need your test date and centre. If your test is fewer than four days away, the request is held for manual review before any payment is taken.

Yes — booking is postcode-led rather than town-led. The nearest areas we hold pages for are Rhyl (about 27 miles), Pwllheli (about 27 miles), Bala (about 30 miles). Distances are calculated from the coordinates we hold, and an instructor's own coverage decides what they will accept.

An intensive course suits you if you can drive for several hours a week for a short period, you already have a practical test booked, and you can absorb new skills quickly. It suits you less well if your only free time is one evening a week, if you have never sat in a driving seat and want to build up slowly, or if your test date is very close — cramming does not replace experience, and your instructor will tell you honestly what your hours can realistically achieve.

Complete beginners usually need the longer courses; drivers who have already had regular lessons or hold overseas experience often need fewer. Your instructor assesses you at the start and can say whether the hours you chose are realistic. DriveBooked does not assess your driving and does not promise a pass.

Your course is planned backwards from your booked DVSA practical test, with the final sessions close to the test date and, where possible, on the roads around the centre you will use. We need at least a few working days between introducing your instructor and your test, so a course cannot be arranged at the last minute. Sessions are agreed directly between you and the instructor.

The DriveBooked fee (£49 for Find an Instructor, £149 for an intensive course) pays for arranging and managing your booking: matching you with a verified independent instructor, handling the booking record and supporting you through it. It is not a payment for tuition. Tuition is a separate contract between you and your instructor at £45 per hour.
