Listing this centre means you are willing to take pupils who will sit their practical test here. Selecting one centre never implies that you cover the surrounding towns — you choose each centre separately.

Who we accept

  • ADIs — fully qualified Approved Driving Instructors on the DVSA register.
  • PDIs — trainee instructors holding a valid trainee licence, provided the licence conditions are met.
  • Manual and automatic — teach either, or both. Pupils are only introduced to you for the transmission you teach.
  • Independent or school-employed — full time or part time, your own car with dual controls and valid tuition insurance.

Every application is checked before any pupil introduction is made: badge, licence, insurance and vehicle evidence must all be provided.

How it works day to day

Covering Duns from your own diary

You set what you cover and when, and you decide on every introduction individually.

Getting verified

  • Photo identity document, checked against your application details.
  • Your ADI badge, or your PDI trainee licence with its conditions, checked against the DVSA register.
  • Valid driving licence, and tuition insurance covering paid instruction.
  • Vehicle details, including dual controls and a current MOT where applicable.

Nothing is published and no introduction is made until a person at DriveBooked has approved that evidence. Documents are stored privately and are never shown to learners.

Setting your coverage

  • Pick Duns and any other DVSA car test centres you are happy to teach towards — each centre is selected separately.
  • Set the transmission you teach: manual, automatic, or both.
  • Say whether you take hourly pupils, intensive courses, or both.
  • Keep your weekly availability current so introductions match your real diary.

You can change any of this at any time from your dashboard, and pause entirely when you are full.

How opportunities reach you

When a learner pays for a search that matches a centre you cover, your transmission and your availability, the opportunity appears in your dashboard and you are notified by email if you have that turned on. You see the area, the test centre, the transmission, the hours or course requested and the timing — not the learner's name, address, phone number or email.

Declining costs you nothing and does not affect future introductions. If nobody accepts within the search period, the learner is offered a refund or a continued search.

After you accept

The learner's contact details are released only once you accept, and only to you. From that point you arrange lessons, timings and the pickup arrangement directly with the pupil, and they pay you £45 per hour for tuition. DriveBooked takes no commission from that tuition and does not sit between you and your pupil once the introduction is complete.

We do not publish learner numbers, waiting lists or demand figures for this area. Any site that promises you a guaranteed number of pupils is guessing.

What covering Duns actually involves

  • Only one town is mapped to Duns — Duns. Coverage here is concentrated, so a tight radius still works.
  • 2 other DVSA centres sit within about 15 miles — Berwick-On-Tweed (13 mi), Kelso (13 mi). Adding one or two of those widens the introductions you see without changing where you actually teach.
  • Scottish centres, particularly rural ones, can have long gaps between test slots. Pupils here often come to you with a date already booked some weeks ahead, which usually suits a planned diary.
  • Duns sits in the TD postcode area of Scottish Borders, which is what we match your coverage against alongside the centres you select.
