Booking an instructor for a test at Thurso
DriveBooked is a national booking agent. You pay for an instructor search, not for a named instructor: the search begins once your fee is paid, and no instructor is reserved, held or guaranteed at the moment you pay.
Once your fee is paid we search our verified instructor network for an instructor who covers Thurso test centre and matches your transmission, availability and test requirements. We contact suitable instructors and driving schools, keep you updated at each stage, and tell you as soon as one accepts. Until an instructor accepts, nothing is reserved.
We do not claim to have an instructor attached to Thurso test centre today. This page exists because we run a national search: you can book from any Great Britain postcode, and we will look for an instructor who covers Thurso test centre once you do.
The 28-day search, and what you pay
We search for up to 28 days. If no suitable verified instructor has accepted and been introduced by the deadline, you choose: continue the search for another 28 days at no extra charge, or take a full refund of the DriveBooked fee. The search never extends automatically, and where your own test date makes 28 days impractical we show you the earlier deadline before you pay.
Two separate amounts. DriveBooked charges £49 to search for an instructor for hourly lessons, or £149 to search for and manage an intensive course. Tuition is £45 per hour, agreed with and paid directly to your independent instructor — it is never included in the amount DriveBooked charges. The DVSA test fee is separate again and is paid to the DVSA.
Test day
Arriving at Thurso
Built from the address and coordinates we hold for this centre. We do not publish facilities, parking or accessibility details we cannot verify.
- Your practical test starts and finishes at Thurso, Naver House, Naver Road, Naver Business Park, Thurso, KW14 7QA. Set that postcode in your sat-nav the day before rather than on the morning.
- The centre sits in the KW postcode area. If you normally drive in a different postcode area, ask your instructor for at least one session that finishes near Thurso so the last few miles are familiar.
- The next nearest DVSA car test centre we hold is Wick, roughly 19 miles away, so if you change centre expect different roads and tell your instructor early.
- Bring your provisional licence and your test booking confirmation, and make sure the car you use meets the DVSA's rules for the test. Facilities, parking and accessibility vary by centre and we do not publish details we cannot verify — check those directly with the DVSA before the day.
Preparation
Practising on the roads around Thurso
Preparation guidance, not an official DVSA test route.
- Thurso is in Thurso, Caithness & Orkney. Ask your instructor to build lessons around the road types that actually surround the centre — the residential streets closest to it, the main routes in and out of Thurso, and the junctions you would meet on any drive of 20 to 40 minutes from the door.
- Independent driving, following signs and using a sat-nav are part of every car test, so practise navigating without prompts rather than memorising a route.
- Manoeuvres are examined wherever the examiner chooses, so practise bay parking, parallel parking and pulling up on the right in more than one place near the centre.
- If you are learning in Thurso, plan at least a few sessions that end in Thurso rather than in your own town, so the approach roads are not new to you on test day.
- We do not publish official test routes. The DVSA stopped publishing them, and any list claiming to be the current route for this centre should be treated with caution.
